KUCHING, March 19 (Bernama) — The government has considered the development of youths to be its top priority as it recognises their contributions and significant role in realising Malaysia’s aspiration to achieve Vision 2020, said the prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, today.
She said as a young nation, nearly three out of four Malaysians would be below the age of 39 years by 2012.
“By then close to half of the population will be those between the ages of 20 to 39 and I believe it is important to engage the youths in a dialogue so that they can be holistically nurtured and developed to be productive, high achievers, and better caretakers of the future world,” she said when addressing a luncheon in conjunction with the “Tomorrow’s Leader Summit – Developing High Income Youth 2011” at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCcK), here
Touching on the topic “Preparing the youth for future opportunities and challenges”, Rosmah said she was happy that the forum was held as it aimed to prepare, develop and equip the youths for a brighter future.
